Oldie and Not goodie:
We have all been there and done that but now these trends just need to go.
It’s easy to hold on to the things that we’re used to but Design is something that is always evolving. Trends come and go. And you might need to get rid of some of these trends so your home doesn’t look dated. Here are a few things that are probably making your house look a bit archaic.
- Ceiling fan: On top of that junky feeling they create, ceiling fans just always felt like they are a safety hazard.
Keeping in mind that some folks in warm areas do need them, we want to suggest some alternatives to ceiling fans. We can use:
- Tower Fan
- Central Air Conditioning
- Bladeless Air Fan
If these are not an option then use a ceiling fan that is very slim and the same color as the ceiling paint.
- Bathroom rugs: Bathroom rugs are out and for a good reason. Hygiene!
- The boob light fixtures: These fixtures will just take us back a decade. There are many cool and budget-friendly fixtures out there to replace them with.
Check out Build.com, Wayfair, Allmodern.com, Lampsplus.com - The gray-on-gray look: This has been the trendy look since the recession but now colors are making a comeback. And that gray-on-gray look has been deemed boring.
- Matching Furniture sets: You don’t want your home to look like a furniture store showroom. Mix color and texture to find that beauty in contrast.
- Get rid of Visual clutter: This last one is not a design trend but it’s essential to bring in that modern, clean but cozy look we are looking for. This can mean actual clutter or just so many things competing for your attention. So get organized! In design, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
